Sustainable Energy Action Plan 2012 - 2015 and Beyond

Creator:

Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI)

Subject Keywords: Energy policy
Set: Fuel Poverty
Type: Report
Region: United Kingdom
Description:

In 2010, the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment (DETI), as the Northern Ireland department with primary responsibility for energy policy, set out its Strategic Energy Framework (SEF) for Northern Ireland which was agreed by the Executive.  Within the SEF was a commitment to produce a Sustainable Energy Action Plan (SEAP) for Northern Ireland: this is the SEAP.

The aim of this new plan is to bring into one short, accessible document all that the Northern Ireland Executive is doing to promote sustainable energy. Most of the actions in this action plan are already in existence in various action plans and strategies. They are brought together in this one document so they are easier to understand as part of a holistic plan to give Northern Ireland a more sustainable energy future.

As well as existing actions, this action plan contains a few additional actions that the Department have committed to in response to the recommendations included in the ETI Committee's 'Report on the Committee's inquiry into Barriers to the Development of Renewable Energy Production and its Associated Contribution to the Northern Ireland Economy'.
